Personalised Learning Pathways

At Auburn Primary School, we recognise that every child is an individual, moving along the continuum of skills acquisition at their own pace. Teachers work hard to cater to individual needs, planning explicitly to address each child's learning needs by identifying their current skill level, and identifying the next point in the learning journey for them.

We have compiled a document indicating a broad outline of the steps your child will work through when learning to read. Within this document you will find five developmental stages with indicators of what a child can typically do at each stage.  This document is based on a range of current research and we hope it will inform you about the learning process, and give an indication of the learning pathway your child will follow. The following documents give an overview, and then individualise each of the three key areas of reading, writing and number.
