Physical Education and Sport

The Physical Education Program is based on the fundamental motor skills, which are the building blocks for the more complicated sport and movement skills that are common to the community. Other areas covered include athletics, aquatics, gymnastics, sports skills, basic movement, outdoor adventure, games and dance.

All our students participate in our Physical Education Program at their weekly lessons, during sports sessions run by classroom teachers and also at various ancillary programs such as the 2-week Intensive Swimming and the School’s Athletics Sports and Swimming Sports days.

Students from Year 3 are encouraged to participate in minor and major games. Years 5 and 6 students are involved in summer and winter interschool sports. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 students are able to represent the school in swimming, cross country and athletics at beyond the school competition.

The swimming, water safety and survival programs are organised in Term 4 for all students.

Visiting sports people from Australian rules clubs and various sporting bodies such as representing soccer, European handball, athletics and tennis enrich the program for the students. 

Perceptual Motor Program 

In addition to their regular PE lessons, Prep students undertake a Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) in terms 1 and 2. PMP further develops and refines co-ordination skills.

 

All students from Prep to Year 2 are also coached in fundamental motor skills to build sound coordination and competence in different sports endeavours.
