News from the Principal's desk at Auburn Primary School
Last week was a busy one for the Preps, and Year 1s and 2s as they enjoyed their first week of the swimming program. Feedback from parents has seen a continuing modification of aspects of the program throughout the week. This is the first time the Junior School has used the Nunawading pool, so we're working through the teething problems to ensure that the program is of high quality. Certainly the changing room facilities and the range of pool depths, in addition to the number of students able to be accommodated (thus allowing more scope to meet student needs in their groupings) are significant positives. Feedback from parents is most welcome - we've found the manager of the Learn to Swim program to be very accommodating and willing to meet our needs.
In addition to swimming, the Preps were also the stars at assembly on Friday and charmed everyone with their uninhibited performance. They were certainly ready for some ‘down time’ by the end of a very hot Friday! This week is the final swimming week of the term.
Cafe Auburn by Night was held under the stars on Thursday, with a very balmy weather being perfect for what was a most pleasant evening. Acknowledgement and many thanks goes to Nikki Harkin and Bec Schulz as chief organisers, and to Amy Kelly and all others who assisted. It was terrific to have the company of some 2010 Prep families in addition to the other parents who attended.
Parents may be interested to learn that School Council has approved the implementation of an excursion levy that will give parents the total cost of excursions, camps and the swimming program at the beginning of the year, from next year. While payments can be made in full, or on a term by term basis, at least parents will know the total commitment from the beginning of the year.
A reminder to any parents who haven't yet put in their expression of interest form related to Project RELATE, the netbook program. Please get them in ASAP as lease agreement documents will be circulated this week.
