2025 – What a year!

Dec 10, 2025

As the 2025 school year draws to a close, we look back with pride on a year filled with achievements, growth and many special memories.
One of our major milestones this year was the launch of our new house names, chosen following extensive consultation with our community. We were honoured to welcome Alison Harcourt (Green House – Harcourt) and Michael Bennet, great-grandson of Sir John Monash (Blue House – Monash), to a special assembly and morning tea with our House Captains. We also received a heartfelt video message from Cathy Freeman (Yellow House – Freeman), who expressed her gratitude at being recognised. In addition, our engagement with pre-service teachers at Swinburne University – named for George and Ethel Swinburne (Red House – Swinburne) – rounded out our connections to our four newly named houses. Throughout the year, students enthusiastically developed house mascots and chants that reflect the values demonstrated by these inspirational figures, and which we strive to embody every day.

Our biannual Showcase was another highlight, celebrating student creativity and collaboration. The Art Show theme, Land, Sea and Sky, invited students to express their artistic talents through a series of individual and group projects displayed throughout our library. Complementing this, our Showcase performance featured music by Australian artists and concluded with an original production, Auburn Eats, which celebrated the rich cultural diversity within our school community.

Our Parents’ Association continued to strengthen community connections by planning and hosting a range of events that not only bring families together but also raise much-appreciated funds for our Kitchen Garden program and ongoing school improvements. Planning is already underway for our 2026 Community Fete, scheduled for March next year. We also extend our sincere thanks to our School Council for their exemplary leadership and support across finance, facilities and governance.

Several facilities upgrades were completed this year, including important maintenance to our beautiful heritage buildings and new accessibility improvements, ensuring our campus is welcoming and inclusive for all students, staff and visitors. Planning has also begun for additional outdoor enhancements that will make our shared spaces even more functional and enjoyable.

Our academic and engagement outcomes remain strong, reaffirming the impact of our learning and wellbeing programs. This year, our investment in teacher professional learning focused on the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 and the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, ensuring our approach remains evidence-based and future-focused.

Together, our staff, students, families and wider community have made 2025 a truly successful year, demonstrating the power of shared commitment and collective care.
