A special visit from Cathy Freeman
Sep 17, 2026
In 2024, the Auburn community proudly named our Yellow House, Freeman House, in honour of Cathy Freeman.
It was an absolute honour to welcome Cathy, Olympic champion and proud Indigenous advocate, to a recent assembly. It was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge Cathy and share how proud we are to have a house named in her honour.
Cathy generously gave her time to meet with our current Freeman House Captains and speak with our wider school community at the assembly. Her warmth, generosity and inspiring story made the occasion particularly special for our students and staff.
Cathy’s journey reminds us to always do our best, believe in ourselves and keep going, even when challenges arise. She embodies our Auburn values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, and we are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with her and celebrate the lasting inspiration she continues to provide to our community.
